The National Independence Day in Poland (Narodowe ÅšwiÄ™to NiepodlegÅ‚oÅ›ci) is celebrated on the 11th of November every year to commemorate the anniversary of Poland’s independence from the German, Austro-Hungarian, and Russian Empires in 1918. This day is declared a national holiday to honor the perseverance and dedication of those who fought for independence. Marshal Jozef Pilsudski was appointed Commander-in-Chief on this day; hence, Polish day is celebrated mainly in Warsaw in Pilsudski Square.Â
The Warsaw Independence Run is one of the major attractions of Independence Day celebrations, where all runners come together to make a display of the Polish flag.
