Every year, Columbus Day is celebrated on the second Monday of October to remember Christopher Columbus’ arrival to the Americas. The 300th anniversary of his landing was first celebrated in New York in 1792, and the national holiday for the day was set to 12th October. However, later in 1971, the date was changed to the second Monday of October. This day is also called the Day of the Race (El DÃÂa de la Raza).Â
