January 9th, every two years, marks Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) to recognize the contributions of the Indian diaspora to the country’s development and growth. The day also marks the return of Mahatma Gandhi (the greatest Pravasi) from South Africa to India in 1915. The celebrations include conferences, seminars, and cultural events aimed at connecting with the overseas Indians and strengthening their engagement with the Indian government.
